"Smoothie?!", you ask?
Yes.
Not just any smoothie, either. A blueberry mango greek yogurt smoothie that costs about $2 to make! So put THAT in your $6 Jamba Juice and suck it!
Okay, enough smoothie gloating. I know you're all incredibly jealous, so I'll include some photos to increase the smoothie envy.
Okay. So I started off with the basics: frozen blueberries, frozen mangos, vanilla greek yogurt, Zico coconut water, a packet of Emergen-C (because I'm a freak), and an adorable little smoothie blender by Oster!
The way that you put the ingredients in the blender is actually a BIGGIE for smoothie perfection. Since I have a tiny blender, I want to make sure that the blades are directly trying to pulverize frozen fruit, so we start with the greek yogurt. Put a couple spoonfuls in there, but not the entire amount that you actually want in your smoothie (you'll want to sandwich the frozen fruit between layers of greek yogurt and coconut water. I call this idea smoothie engineering. Get into it.)
This is a totally optional step, but I HATE BEING SICK. I also HATE THE TASTE OF EMERGEN-C. Solution? Throw it in a delicious smoothie and pretend like its not even happening. No sickness, no awkward raspberry chalk taste! Yay!
Coconut water. COME TO MAMA. This stuff is incredible. I don't really enjoy the taste of it on its own, but I really can't argue with the health benefits and hydration it provides, so I put it in a smoothie. Basically, anything you don't like but know you need to eat can be put in a smoothie. That's my philosophy on life. I put about a half cup of this stuff in a smoothie, but you can absolutely do more or less depending on how you're feeling today!
FRUIT. I love fruit. It's awesome. It's like nature's candy. Plop some blueberries and mangos or whatever fruit you're fancying on top of the greek yogurt/coconut water gloop. It looks gross. It's gonna be awesome. Trust me.
Top it off with some more greek yogurt (just a spoonful will do it), and a splash of coconut water, and blend that ish!
I love blending. I'm weird. Sorry.
THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP.
You MUST pour the smoothie into a fun glass. Like this tiki glass. It ups the happiness factor by like 200000%. Guaranteed. Do it.
Now sip it and be happy!
PS, $2.09 per smoothie when you buy all these ingredients at Trader Joe's like I did. Wooohoo!
I like to pair this smoothie with something else since I'm a hungry girl.
Enter the flax and chia seed triple berry multigrain cereal!
Hello, gorgeous.
YUM.
Anyway, enough about my breakfast.
Have a glamorous, zen, happy, joyful day that's as stupendous as you are!
